Regardless of galactic racial origin, one thing puts everyone on the same level; resources. Technologies, fossil fuels, energy, manufactured goods, medicine, and raw material just to name a few. Intergalactic trade is a lucrative business, and ensures mutual benefit amongst all contributing parties. Early negotiations amongst universal races were initially rocky. Given the lack of shared language or currency, resources were bartered based on observable value alone. While this may have been an acceptable system for several decades, eventually, things needed to change.

Across racial borders, many entrepreneurs proposed the idea of an intergalactic exchange. Privately owned markets that provided universal currency exchange based on the comparative pricing among varying racial currencies for a single litre of erchius fuel.

Banks sprouted up amongst stations and trading bays. Some failed, while others thrived to become a staple of universal trade. Eventually, it became standard practice for trade to be achieved through the intergalactic exchange markets. Native currency titles faded away, replaced by simple broad terms that referred to current monetary intergalactic exchange value.
