Honestly, a better solution than locking it would be asking us folk who have nothing better to say to stop.

This thread is nothing new. It's basically the mods saying "Follow the rules, please, we're getting sick of your crap". But it hasn't been around long enough to bring out all the new questions it might have.

Stay on topic. This isn't a thread about TAP. This a thread about our new forum policies and thoughts there on.

    No.
Not until it gets necroed, people still need to voice their opinions.

The thread wasn't made to turn into a flame and whine fest, it should serve it's purpose and stay on topic.
Sorry, I just don't like to see the community so... vehement.

We are not going to lock the thread.

But the very fact that the thread about forum toxicity is becoming toxic itself only serves to reinforce why we feel the need to be more strict with these policies. If we can't even talk like responsible adult about the topic in question, how can we expect to do any better on other parts of the forum?

I do believe it's the right word, it's common for most people to use it wrong however.

Don't lay this on me or anyone else not being toxic. Its a small handful of loud people. SOME people are making the forum toxic, SOME people can't talk like responsible adults, and these same some people in this thread may or may not also be problematic in other threads.
Also some people derailed a little bit, but lets not point fingers.
Thats what I meant, in the context of your post it seems kinda weird. Its understandable for people to be passionate, it felt like you were saying 'I don't like people pushing their opinions'. MB if I misunderstood you.

As one of my not as often truly serious posts.

I have to say I'm excited for this.

I hope I don't offend anyone with this, but I'm glad the mods are finally ready to crack down and truly be mods.
Gloves are off, yadayada, time for getting serious.

To be fair Ryn, not everyone here's an adult. Despite my rather vulgar language, I am still of a rather young age and still have a looot of maturing to do.

I... Am... SO OFFENDED RIGHT NOW, HOW COULD YOU DARE STATE YOUR OPINIONS?!?!?! OPINIONS ARE EEEEEVIIIIIL...

It's a good change, but everyone has their opinions. Can see with the discourse that occurred that everyone has shown a bit of toxicity. Fun night, right?

Not pointing fingers, not accusing anyone, it was a group effort, involving both players and mods,

But this is why we made this post, we can do better, but we have to WANT to do better, it might take a while, with ample stumbling on our part, but I think if we really make a group effort to solve this...well, who knows? Maybe we can do something fantastic, but that is up to us as a community.

I'd like to bring up a saying that is quite handy for situations like this.

    Hope for the best.

    Expect the worst.

Pessimism is NOT something I care to stress here, never expect to fail, it is the surest and quickest way into the ground

But I'm not stressing pessimism here, I'm stressing wisdom. IF you never expect to fail, what happens when you DO fail? However if you can expect failure, and work to avoid it, then that's a lot better, right?

It feels more like 'Expecting faliure' is a preemptive coping mechanism for eventual failure.
