Strangely, the florans with depth and character tended to be those that were more than just caricatures of power fantasies.
"This point has already been brought up; it was 10 apex citizens and one guard ordered not to fight back. Leaving out parts of it doesn't make it any more true; that's called the Sin of Omission. As a clarifying point, this is from the OP: 3. "Florans are the best cause they beat 10 armed apex in a fight" Yeah, don't twist lore around. Those 10 apex were apex citizens, brainwashed ones. And while it was said they were competent, they had to be ordered to fight. The fight was 10 Apex Citizens vs 10 Quote"Rabid florans looking for a fight" And while it was mentioned they took out a guard, it was also explicitly stated Big Ape ordered them not to try to stop them. Meaning they could have, easily."
I interpreted it as big ape making no attempt to end the experiment once things started to get out of hand, and let the Florans and miniknog battle it out instead of trying to end the experiment there and then.
Well what happened was that the Guard was meant to keep the civilians from dying without harming the Florans, which was quite clearly impossible. There was hardly a "battle," and it's more apparent that the one Floran death was more of an accident.
I do not agree that floran are "superior to every other race can kill your character always no matter what", and I /do not/ see anything backing this statement in the official lore. However, let's pretend it's true. Let's pretend everything in the lore regarding florans must be followed to the hair. Here's how floran characters work out: You stay in your tribe on some planet, never using a radio, and not associating with other PC's Translators do not exist, you simply type "ssskskshshsjs" all the time. You somehow find a colony, and are immediately shot dead as every single race (besides glitch) consider floran a scourge. You never actually get to play your super strong super smart super killer floran because they're peppered with gun fire like one would shoot at a stray grizzly bear in the middle of town.
That's not how I interpreted it all. I saw it as the Florans killing all the civilians, and killing some miniknog guards due to their bloodlust. And big ape, instead of taking action to end the experiment once the violence extends beyond the two groups that were meant to be involved decides to see how the miniknog guards deal with the Florans also. Big ape is an evil dictator. He doesn't care if a few apex civilians die, and neither does he care if a few miniknog guards die too, if it allows him to learn more about floran vs apex fights. Then his takeaway conclusion was that Florans are extremely dangerous, and the miniknog soldiers should undergo genetic engineering to better combat floran threats.
Every single point is lore friendly. Every race observes the floran like tigers. Curious, but with a gun handy. Several guns.
Cosume, spread, multiply. Florans are all about expanding to other worlds, and they do have technology. Sure, they don't build it themselves, but they certainly do have it .
One guard. They were and are brainwashed, and didn't resist. The Florans killing them would be akin to wolves killing sheep. Florans reverse engineer ships from time to time, like Novakids, somewhat. They aren't avid space explorers. Their lives, according to the lore, consist of shoving each other out of trees for power, and hunting for meats. Aiko's actually pretty spot-on as to what a "lore-friendly" floran would be.
"Consume, spread , multiply" is a direct quote from floran lore. Florans also use words like "devour" to refer to their use and reverse engineering of other races technology. They have entire tribal castes devoted to obtaining the technology of other races.
You keep repeating that like it means anything. We as humans now consume, spread and multiply. Rabbits consume, spread and multiply. BACTERIA consumes, spreads, and multiplies. Consume, spread and holy shit multiply does not directly translate to "have a huge fleet of ship and mass communication arrays between tribes to orchestrate a mass conquering of the universe". Fuck, it doesn't even suggest multiple planets.
"Unwitting explorers are prey of choice to the carnivorous Florans, who frequently salvage or reverse engineer the technology they bring to enable their colonisation of the stars."
You're grasping at straws, man, you gotta know when to back down. You've lost this argument, your quotes don't help anything. Just give up.
Florans aren't active explorers. They see a ship, get excited, build their own, and hop to another planet and settle down. That's why "Unwitting explorers" wander upon settlements, as opposed to Florans making an attack on a settlement. In fact, the only situation in the lore that you fancy warping so much where the Florans make a legitimate attack is the Hylotl, which happened because the Florans figured out where they were, and realized it was easy to get rid of them.
I'm basing my arguments on actual quoted lore, and taking the most obvious conclusion from it. Keeping in mind from an OOC perspective that the select pieces of lore were specifically chosen and written by the creators of this fictional universe to give people an understanding of the various races and cultures of starbound.
