Psssst.... We are talking about an idea that is commonly applied to fictional settings which has been shown to be an interesting setting regardless of how overused it may be, not the actual system itself. Just thought I would let you know.
Because if we were discussing alternatives, it would be at the request of the OP. If we were comparing systems of government against one another for a group, it would be in another thread entirely. You are more then welcome to apptempt to make a monarchy faction of your own, in a new thread.
I'm just saying, why not go for a different government system and try to be original, no offense to the OP
I can hear Angre coming. Lets be true socialists and delete all of posts before he has privilege of doing such - Scorched Earth, if you will.
We have two factions in this server history based upon monarchies, for the record. It isn't a new idea for the server either. Regardless of your intent, it doesn't change the fact it isn't what this thread or faction is about. If you have ideas you wish to express about changing the base concept of this faction that hasn't even been finalized yet, you can do so in another thread or in a pm to the OP.
Alright, back to -actually- giving your opinions on the idea. If you have a suggestion for the socialist faction, feel free to post it, but if you feel that the political structure of this faction should be altered for whatever reason, take it to a PM please so others can post their own opinions about the faction constructively.
Darn, we were too late! Anyways yeah i dont have anything to contribute to the fac other than what ive said in the group pm thingy
One thing I'd like to see this faction do is integrate actual elements of socialist thought rather than just regurgitate common stereotypes that have been played out over and over again. Socialism isn't a monolithic school of thought that's just restricted to the USSR itself. Going from historical examples alone, there's Maoism in China, Tito's Yugoslavia, and the GDR. Since this is the future, we can use hindsight to our advantage and adopt more evolved version of the doctrine adapted accordingly to the setting.
I don't disagree, but poking fun at history shouldn't be actively discouraged as long as the structure of the faction is understood: the structure being a collective of metal workers and miners with a head and his aides in charge of meeting the standard living needs of said workers. And I sure hope no one feels like their character needs to be a stereotyped Boshevik straight out of the twentieth century. Sure, we can have those, but it's good to have variety. Always is. You could assist with the creation of this one. It's growth is looking good so far, and the concepts are neat in my opinion.
