Anyone else find it weird that it's always 400mb?

It likely has something to do with the way they do their patches. Their .pak files are generally 300-400 mb, and I suspect that even if they change 1 file in there that they've got to upload the whole thing (instead of sending the single file they changed, unpacking the local pak..and then repacking it with the new file).

But because I don't work for them this is all just assumption. :)

They stated that their patch size has to do with debugging symbols.

Some speculation about the new biome from the official forums: its an underground biome, probably a mini biome.

Ah well, I was hoping for ocean biomes this time around, really curious to see how those work

So stark got wiped? Great -_-

I support a full wipe now. It's all broken. And is the server down again, seriously? Another boredom day? Hell.

I say wipe it. I wouldn't mind even having to rebuild some places. The only thing I'll really miss are my own structures, though.

I also say we wipe it. I'd rather just rebuild from the ground up instead of have to constantly deal with these colony disappearances.

Come on people, read the thread.

A wipe is very unlikely to fix anything. If something built post-patch wipes (which they do) that means all a wipe would do is delay you. You'd rebuild and it would get wiped again.

It MAY fix it, which is why I support bringing back the colonies' backups before wiping the entire server. And until I know exactly when and if there will be another universe wipe from CF, I do not support a wipe of any time. The amount of frustration I would feel from finishing rebuilding just for it to be wiped a day later would be enough to make me leave this game forever.

How about we wipe and instead of rebuilding every colony on a massive scale, just build em smaller until CF wipes. If they don't for a while, we rebuild all the way up.

Thats a smart idea Zann. That has a chance to have at least half of the work done as a precaution. Then if everything seems to work all well, we build it entirely.

We are currently testing if more assets=increased likelihood of crashes. This would work if people stayed in small groups and no place stayed major. There is no reason at all to do a wipe, it won't solve anything. Hell, everything is all ready self wiped, you could do this now without forcing everyone else to wipe. We're in a new patch now, I suggest that all the backups be loaded back and we see what happens. They added a new biome, so planet generation is altered. It may be fixed.

I think the important thing about this thread is that people are okay with a wipe if it is necessary.

I wouldn't worry too much about it getting wiped even if it won't fix it, I trust kazy didn't put this up as a poll to choose what to do but to gauge community reaction so he won't get junk if he has to wipe the server.
