((This OOC journal documents the heart and soul of V, formerly a high-class economist reduced to nothing))

The cold, steely heart pounded in V's chest as he sat in his ship. Below him, New Chicago, and the crater of his close friend Ehlers. The monolith he had once worked in was reduced to rubble; a pile of scrap metal collapsed into a sewer. Buried in that coppery grave must have been Simon Ehlers, meaning that the horrific machine had gotten to him once and for all. 25kp were to be wired to him electronically from his recent expedition with a group of rugged explorers, but he doubted that his creation would be so willing to let him keep the money.

He was, of course, wrong. The Mainframe Master-Mind had been destroyed, and had no protests to V regaining his wealth. Still sour, the bitter man took this as a sign he was to look deeper into the events long passed. Back to when he was an intern. Back when he was nothing but one of the many social workers for the Ehler's Cigs Company.

It was him that found the miraculous file, an AI the size of a mere terabyte. He built off of it, giving it room to evolve and the means to communicate. From chaotic and corrupted programs rose a brilliant mind. The project was named Baphomet, and the fifteen year-old V sent it to his superiors in the vain hopes of a raise, or at least to be humored. But Baphomet was beyond that, he proved himself useful in impossibly accurate stock predictions, economic calculations, and advertising brilliance that made them trillions.

Baphomet, from the very beginning, had been manipulating the company. With AI on par, or perhaps above most glitches, he had achieved godhood among the top commanders. V, himself, was actually credited, to his surprise. They decided he was the best man to communicate with Baphomet, and in turn he gave them his theoretical designs for a rudimentary mainframe to help Baphomet's processing speed. The Mainframe Master-Mind it was called, and the project was a huge success once integrated into the system.

Baphomet became so large he needed his own planet to run off of, and New Chicago was perfect. Out of the way, easy to get into, hidden among the gadgets, and Baphomet had access to the ICIA if he ever needed his own security.

But where did the original program come from? How did it come to be?
    ...
    Who the hell was Baphomet?

V had no trouble sneaking into the defunct warehouse through the havoc of the streets after the battle. Here, he ransacked the files, copied the classified security tapes, and found the name Yahweh. This is when he decided to follow the address, and find out who had been messing with the company. As a final measure to buy himself more time, he locked the door shut before escaping into the sewers.

The address was far away. V would have to pack a few extra suitcases.

((Bye, everyone, moving to a better server. Happy now, Twitch?))
