Just a thread to sate some curious minds. I hope people will post. I wanted to get an idea of what images or art, or movies, or what have you inspired peoples character ideas, RP concepts, weapons, armors, ships, factions, anything, as it relates to what we've done or RP'd in our server. I'll start off with a few. Before some internal issues and the hiatus on the RA this was my inspiration for the pilots of the RA's gunships that were in development. The pilots had to interface with their ships in a fashion similar to EVE online as far as control/operation goes. However the tech was not nearly as advanced as the fluff in EVE, and had a lot of unpleasant side effects, weak bones, muscular dystrophy, strict diet with heavy meds (the prosthetic med cocktail Yung inadvertently tested for the RA). Here's the gif that gave me part of my inspiration for the Pilots, albeit it was toned down. The RA has always been about it's members sacrificing aspects of their freedom or humanity in service to the masses as opposed to the individual.
The Conglomerate is heavily inspired by many videos and pictures; It's conception was based off of the Combine mixed with the heavy capitalism of factions like the RA or the Planetside New Conglomerate (Although the name itself is because of this: Conglomerate), further added onto by heavy expansionist policies such as 1800s America or any EVE Online corp. truth The RA's VSPs (specifically the original Orion suit) was inspired by this (really it should be obvious): Spoiler The Taurus and Scorpio suits were then inspired by me thinking "what can I do to make the suit heavier/lighter respectively?" The RA weapons were inspired by various sci-fi weapons pictures, especially the Relic since I needed ideas of what an alien weapon might look like.
