    Overview

Novakid do not need to breathe, are immune to radioactivity, and are highly adaptable to most climates and temperatures. This has lead to most traditional Nova technology being completely inaccessible to organics. Technology may emit too much heat for organics to operate, or their facilities & settlements may be located in areas with dangerous temperature levels or a complete absence of oxygen. Radioactive material is treated with careless disregard, as to the Nova, it’s not a threat. The Misbranded Nova may still enjoy using their native technology, though most understand the threats they pose to any organics they share company with, and commonly adapt to xeno technology instead.

    Technological Timeline

It took several generations for the early era celestial wisp children known as the Nova to migrate collectively toward any planetoids. Upon their arrival, the Nova plummeted to the surface, and realized they had no means of leaving the atmosphere. With vague recollections of observable alien civilization through the Kindred’s Calling and a very simple sentience, the Nova were thrust into an effort to develop community. Over the course of a millennia, the Nova would grow in populous and sophistication. From stone tools, to steam power & cogwork, to geothermal magmatics. Upon the development of nuclear fusion & warp drive technology, the Nova were finally free of their planetary restrictions, and back to exploring the void with newfound prosperity and numbers.

    Steam Power & Tungsten
    [HR2]

Early Novaic engineering utilized the natural heat of the Nova and steam to create cheap, versatile, and renewable energy. The usage of tungsten, a metal with a high enough melting point to withstand Nova plasma, introduced user powered systems to all previously developed steam mechanisms. Through the application of a ‘vent valve’, Nova could carefully vent their own plasma directly into a specially designed tungsten chamber which would then power any given steam engine. Vent valve technology was used in vehicles, construction equipment, weaponry, and even home appliances up until the development of Novaic magmatics. Magmatic energy systems rendered steam machinery obsolete on an industrial scale, though some vintage mechanisms & personal devices developed during the steam age continue to be produced due to affordability and traditional vintage appeal.

    Magmatics & Thermodynamics

Resilient to high temperatures, utilizing natural geothermal energy sources was the most efficient feat of technological advancement the late Nova accomplished. Nova Magmatics relies solely on the utilization of heat for energy. Geothermal plantations siphon energy straight from the molten cores of planetoids. Electrochemical thermodynamic batteries & electricity removed the need for bulky steamwork mechanisms. Thermodynamic induction allowed more sophisticated Novaic technology to harness energy directly from a user through induction plates, which opened the doors for personal electronics with theoretically infinite power.

    Fusion & Space Exploration

Nearing the end of their planet bound millennia, the Nova finalized the development of nuclear fusion. Without fear of radioactive catastrophe, trial and error engineering gave them back their space legs. Aerospace engineering developed space ready vessels: far more simplistic without the need for replenishable oxygen supplies, temperature regulation, or radioactive shielding. The nova dispersed amongst the void once again; to gather knowledge and unravel universal mystery, or to find new, exciting lives amongst alien society. Since the discovery of warp technology, Novaic settlements (now mostly populated by Memorant Nova) have all but abandoned the pursuit of technological advancement in favor of gathering knowledge.

    Architecture
    [HR1]
    [/HR1]
With an affinity for heat, the forge quickly became a staple in Nova engineering & architectural design. Their colonial planets regularly lacked any vegetative flora, so early Novaic architecture was composed entirely of masonry and metalwork. Craftsmanship was an important aspect of architecture, as the Memorant Nova wished to create with beauty that matched their perception of the universe and their celestial life givers. Intricate, formalised structures told stories with their form through chiseled patterns and sculptures. The Nova cherished their days amongst the void, and their cities demonstrate that love by towering to magnificent heights as if to scratch the very stars themselves. Observatories, archives and universities are prominent pillars amongst Memorant communities, treated with respect equivalent to only the devotion that the Avian show to their religious temples. A Memorant city is truly a sight to behold; day or night, they’re alive with multicolored light from tip to toe.

The Memorant also produce an abundance of scientific & observational outposts scattered amongst asteroids and planetoids. These outposts, while still quite a marvel, are far less flashy than the grand, sky scraping cities - but much more common. They’re used as travel nodes for Memorant expedition crews, or dedicated research facilities. Being so isolated and exposed to hostile threats, these outposts are regularly stationed by militant Nova.

While the Misbranded Nova can certainly appreciate the cities of their traditional kin, they themselves are far more comfortable in humble, function-over-form abodes. Their more avidly nomadic lifestyle has lead to the adoption of carpentry, which seems to dominate Misbranded architectural design. Wood, being so accessible, is used in excess - and buildings tend to be much more homely and down-to-earth than that of the Memorant. Misbranded have also been known to adapt xeno architectural practices, such as terran prefabrication, and more industrially-inclined Nova may even make extensive use of modular structures and prefabs, which they can simply pack up later before leaving to the stars. It’s rare enough for the Misbranded to settle at all, as most are pleased to assimilate into nearby xeno society.

    Weaponry
    [HR1]
    [/HR1]
Modern day Memorant Nova utilize weaponry to fend off potential invaders, hostile fauna, or protect themselves on explorative expeditions. It’s a rarity for Memorant Nova to fight amongst one another violently, especially to such extent that warrants weaponry. This has lead most Memorant weaponry to be little more than glorified, repurposed tools.

Particle & Optical lasers utilize radioisotopic power sources, and were primarily used for excavation both planetside and spatially. Smaller, more precise models are used to create the fine, intricate patterns and shapes sculpted into Memorant stone architecture. Weaponized particle & optical lasers are the norm within Memorant militant forces.

The Misbranded, as always, vary. Xeno exposure plays a great deal on a Misbranded’s preferences. Being so adaptable, they’re likely to simply pick up techniques from whichever culture they’ve assimilated. An example of which being the common stereotypical ‘western’ Nova, adapted to the use of black powder ballistic weaponry.
