The Quiet Kindred
The name most Nova use to refer to their origin stars.

'The Silent Ones' is an accepted variant.


Kindred's Calling
The name given to the memory or 'whispers' of the Quiet Kindred’s inherited knowledge and wisdom, or the feeling of their presence and guidance. This feeling is shared amongst all Memorant Nova, and ingrains them with a sense of unity and a desire to collectively prosper.


Memorant & Misbranded
The Memorant Nova make up the majority of the Novaic populous. Misbranded Nova are anomalies. Misbranded are commonly born outside of Memorant communities, or leave when the realization of their irregularity becomes too much pressure.


The Misbranded Nova
Being ‘Misbranded’ is less of a title, and more of a diagnosis. Misbranded Nova are physiologically separated from Memorant Nova by a conceptive malformation on their brand that renders their ability to hear the Kindred’s Calling obsolete.

The term ‘Misbranded’ is rarely used unless describing the differentiation between Memorant & Misbranded. Misbranded Nova commonly refer to themselves as Nova.

Derogatory: Inert Nova, Dull Nova, Malformed Nova


The Memorant Nova
The Memorant, or ‘True Branded’ Nova possess the ability to hear the Kindred’s Calling.

The term ‘Memorant’ is rarely used unless describing the differentiation between Memorant & Misbranded. Memorant Nova commonly refer to themselves as Nova.

Colloquially, ‘True Branded’ is more commonplace.


Novaic
Referring to that of the Nova people. Novaic culture, Novaic engineering, Novaic architecture, etc.


Mesa'Memali
The supposed capital of Memorant society, one of their largest and most heavily populated cities. Home to The Grand Archive.


The Grand Archive
A phenomenally massive collection of literature & information, located in Mesa'Memali.


Melding
The Nova’s intimate & reproductive activity that involves two opposite charged Nova ‘melding’ their bodies & brands into a molten singularity, temporarily sharing consciousness.


Venting
The Nova equivalent to bleeding. Internal plasma escapes through breaches in the membrane and transitions to a cooled gaseous state.


Patching
Treating membrane breaching through the application of airtight medical patches or other containment apparatus.


Tying
Nova equivalent to amputation. Excess membrane is removed, while the remainder below a breach site is tied off and sealed.


Sunspots
Scarring caused by improperly healed membrane breaches. Normally darker and more opaque than surrounding membrane.


Etching
Temporary scarring caused by lacerations applied with metallic objects. Results when metal from said object is melted by Nova plasma and encrusted into the wound site.
