Since everything has been closing and cities have dwindled down to either Opportunity and Taranis I have decided to make a city that is more of a reminiscent to old sci-fi cyberpunk/industrial cities. The city will be more of corporation, a de facto world government, owned by "The boss" he/she provides security, low income housing, and entertainment for citizens and in turn profits from it. The city would be split into sectors such as a trade sector, a red light sector, housing sector, Recreation Sector, etc etc. The prominent feature of this city would be a giant Casino in the trade sector. This provides a lot of IC resources to make the city and staff it as well.

The city will have a newer form of payment system called the "Pix Cards" basically you put money on your pix cards and use it like a debit card. There will be levels of membership for pix cards the most basic would be a white card which allows entrance to basic areas such as the trade sector, and the red light sector. The next card would be a blue card, which grants access to all the white card locations plus access to the low income housing, the park, beach sector and the Academia Sector. The next would be purple, which includes all the white, and blue sectors plus access to the Eco sector.

Silver Card - For military personnel, includes access to most sectors
Green card - For farmers, miners, and teachers this allows access to industrial sectors along with basic housing. The card is also linked to benefits such as free healthcare, and food stiphons.
Red Card - Skeleton card for elite members access to all sectors.
Black Card - Access to any door on the planet. The only card that can access the Boss's office.

It will feature an underground highway to allow travel between sectors by car and a highway called "The tube" for fast single person travel(Skyrail). You can still travel by foot but you might not have access to a sector especially with certain Pix cards.

    Ideas for sectors Include:

    Business sectors:
    -Merchantile sector, includes casino.
-"Nocturne"(Red light) sector, for lower income housing and all the Party RP, thinking of putting a giant club there and calling it something opulent like "The Manor" or "The Birdcage."
-"Academia" Sector, for all your nerd RP will feature a hospital, observatory, museum, and schools.

    Recreation sectors:
-Beach sector, basically a simulated beach to keep citizens happy.
-Park sector, just for all the cute date RP.

    Housing sectors:
-Eco sector, higher end housing that simulates the country-side for people who dislike cities(Super expensive housing though).
-Housing, minimalistic and confined to house a lot citizens.

    Resource sectors:
-"The last" a sector that is basically a giant mining sector. Basically the last sector.
-"Viva" a sector for growing plants and other things to supplement the colony.
    -"Militum" sector, for training police.

Each sector is divided by a wall. The sectors can be "shut down" for maintenance or reconstruction.

All names are tentative. I haven't finished hashing it out. Just wondering if people would like it.
Also, it will not be a city that pops up over night it will be built by sectors. As the population grows the sectors will increase as well. This will encourage players to join and keep the city in a manageable resource zone in accordance will the amount of players.

Also, I'll need a huge team of builders to help if anyone is interested.

I actually like this idea quite a bit, and would be very interested in working on the city with you; both in the construction of the brick and mortar, so to speak, of the city's buildings, and in the development of the city's nature in reference to governmental systems, businesses, and overall 'feel'. If you feel as though you need assistance with either of those, I'd love for you to contact me.

Yeah, got the idea after I saw a picture of Midgar, a city in Final Fantasy VII. I liked the artwork and structure. I feel it lends itself nicely to some kind of Orwellian government or Corporate government. The additional sectors that seem out of place like the park and beach sectors would be write-offs as employee benefits. If interest persist I'll definitely contact you. I was hoping this could be a player hub for the server.

A Neotokyo in the starbound universe would be Hylotl, right? Hylotl assets in the game are already pretty neotokyo

Gives me something to build with but ultimately it will be a human colony first and foremost.
I was hoping it would be more industrial looking though. Kind of like this.

(I'll re-read, in the case I do see it, I'm going to delete this post)

Probably through a lengthy application process. Since basically the first upgrade is like basic citizenship and the last upgrade, purple, would be more of an elite class. I changed it around a little though. I just finished homework so I'm a little spacey.

Does Red light district sound too much like Slums? The purpose was to put up a big party district basically.

This looks like a large project. ICly, this wouldn't crop up overnight. How do you plan to introduce the building of such a incredible city?

Start with commercially viable sectors first. Like the merchant sectors, red light. Then as people move into the hub we'll expand the city to accommodate the needs of the people. I honestly planned to build the city based on card levels. So start with the white sectors first then expand outwards to the sectors that need to be built such as farms and military.

Sorry for typing errors. Kind of late and I just did a bunch of math homework.

@Dreganius and I were planning this already aswell, a cyberpunk city starting low in the undergrounds being a hylotl district and slums, moving further up and up towards higher class, a lot of neon signs, shops and gangs.
In the style of that new game that is yet to be released I think. I also forgot the name so I am not being very helpful with saying
    'That one game'
We haven't gotten far yet and we're planning on actually doing it after the update because of there being possibly more modern/techy blocks and items for us to use.
With we I mean Dreganius since I haven't been able to work on it yet due to a lot of busy-ness.
Maybe we could merge the ideas, maybe we could all work on one, just for the whole 'Immense colony' thing.

I too was planning a cyberpunk city. It never materialized because I am lazy and school started up. I might be able to help a bit.

Welp, looks like people care. Guess I'll start solidifying my ideas and level a planet to start building. Unless there is a way to generate a flat planet of some sort probably not likely.

Also Novemeit, which was made in accordance to the fact that only Taranis and Opportunity are popular. Cool place, check it out. ( Shameless advertising succeeded )
