Empty

He was empty. He felt hollow inside, simply a husk of who he used to be. Curled up under the blankets, arms wrapped around his knees, fearing when he finally closed his eyes. The events ran through his head over and over again. He should of stopped her. He -could-, of stopped her. But he didn't, and now she's gone. It's -his fault-. The though shot through his mind with deadly accuracy, him mentally cringing from the blow it dealt. Curling closer to himself, he squeezed his eyes shut. Trying to block out the images and thoughts tearing away at him. Each one tearing out another chunk of his already torn heart.

He was alone. Despite what the others said or did, he was utterly alone. They tried, and tried, but no one could take this pain away. It was too great, consuming him. Each day was a struggle to get up and keep on walking. He didn't know how much longer he could keep going, until he just ended it. Not now, he would wait. Wait until she's laid to rest. And then he would join her, and end the pain.
