Some of the kinks are being ironed out, I wouldn't advise changing your character stance, description, or names in starcheat until everyone establishes a stable coding environment for the new version of Starbound.

Reported issues to one of the coders for Starcheat, working on a resolution now, if this happened to you please go into %appdata%\starcheat, put those files into an archive, along with the player files associated with your character data and then post the archive here from dropbox.

Gender
What were you doing before you saved and closed starcheat

Rule of thumb is always back up your files prior to altering anything.

Yes, but some people aren't familiar with practices like this if they don't regularly work in computer environments. A warning is very nice to have, but it is always nice to have backups yes.
