Council representatives are in complete shock as Allaris Prime, capital world of the Allaris Cluster on the fringe of Council space, was completely overwhelmed by alien forces mere galactic minutes after the arrival of the Council response fleet to Intrepid, sources say. With only a dozen or so ships and orbital defenses remaining behind to defend the planet after the Council fleets departure, the arrival of nearly sixty ships, ranging from frigates to battleship sized craft, from far beyond Council Space completely surprised and overwhelmed security forces.

Communication lines from the Allaris Cluster have almost been completely severed, and the Council military is currently redeploying telecom buoys in deep space to ensure some communication with military and civilian forces still in the sector is possible. The status of Allaris Prime, however, is said to be "disastrous" by representatives of military forces in the area. Alien warships are bombarding major population centers before deploying troop transports to secure major factory lines, resource nodes, and military facilities. Before contact was severed, Council security forces planetside reported over two dozen new warp signatures in orbit. Council security forces planetside are said to be "on the run".

Allaris Cluster provisional governor Jessica Mithar, who was ushered into the position after Governor Johnathan Harris was presumed killed on Allaris Prime, was quick to respond to the attack. "We are doing everything we can, but this situation is beyond the Allaris Cluster. If we deployed the Council fleet from Intrepid, they would be demolished by this fleet," she said. "Based on what intelligence Allaris Prime managed to send out before we lost contact with the planet, not only is the fleet drastically larger; they appear to be using advanced technology that we believed only the Tormentus Sector was capable of producing. I will be issuing a request for an emergency Council session in the Core Systems on this matter."

Council military representatives refused to comment on the status of the fleet orbiting Intrepid, saying only that they are continuing with their current directive to provide humanitarian support to the farming communities planetside, and providing orbital security. The fleet is expected, however, to fall back to a rendezvous point deeper in Council Space at some point in the next few days.

Council representatives are still unsure as to the nature of the alien forces. "We're not sure what to expect," said Council Xenobiology expert Kallis Unimatar. "The ships do follow many of the same patterns expected of humanoid construction, so it is probable that they could be an offshoot of one, or even multiple, of the major races of the galaxy. They could even be Fenerox for all we know," he said. "Our only issue is that, as of now, they have not attempted communication. No demands, no requests; nothing. This could be a wordless border dispute, or it could be something much, much worse. Only time will tell."

The death toll on Allaris Prime is expected to be well into the thousands, if not tens of thousands.

Council representatives have recently released the nature of the months-old attack on Alarris Prime, and the name of the attacking force. The Empire of Sufiria, as it is now known, had led a surprise attack on the colonies bordering the Sacramentus Sector in the Allaris Cluster due Council colonies infringing on Imperial space, as said by representatives of the Empire. While information on this new government has been sparse, recent scouting incursions by United Systems and Avian craft under Council jurisdiction have found Allaris Prime, and her colonies, to be fully under Empire rule.

It has been months since the invasion of the Allaris Cluster by a large Imperial fleet. The surprise attack left Council representatives and military officials in shock, and left the Allaris Cluster under the control of the Empire of Sufiria. As of now, a large military station and Imperial fleet numbering several dozen cruisers and frigate-class warships, although the exact size and capabilities of their fleet are unknown, have been stationed above the planet. Large Imperial military and civic bases have been settled on the surface in major population centers. The death tolls and level of damage to infrastructure in the original invasion are currently unknown.

The Empire of Sufiria has made no official declaration of war against the Council but, in a sudden series of short and aggressive communications between the two powers in recent weeks, the Empire stated its intention to keep the Allaris Cluster under its control, and to refuse official diplomatic contact between the two powers. "The colonists of the Allaris Cluster have infringed upon the Sacramentus Sector and upon the lives of the colonists of the Empire, and we will not stand for this Council's imperialistic tendencies," said an official representative of the Empire, a human, in a unclassified communication to the Council Diplomatic Ministry. "Citizens of Allaris Prime and it's colonies shall become official members of the Empire, or they shall return to Council space. This is our decree, and these are our only terms."

In response, the Council has declared it will begin preparations for deploying a defense fleet to neighboring Council space in an effort to 'defend its borders from possible alien aggression'.

The fact that an unknown empire had grown so large and so powerful right next to Council space has baffled Council scientists and colonial agents. This has prompted an increase of scientific and exploratory agents to fringe space in order to study this new political power. However, this will take some time, as efforts are being made to prevent the worsening of tensions between the two political powers, as Council representatives have categorized the Empire of Sufiria as 'increasingly territorial'.

We will update you as more information becomes available.
