While that's true and entirely valid, there might be other, less brute crime RP that requires more 'finesse' than your run-of-the-mill grunt is capable of. Like it was stated before you could smuggle guns part-by-part, assemble them inside and then start shooting people up or other stuff. Like they said before, it's supposed to be a metal detector, not a magic-powered rainbow-laser detector. If it is, then I can see how this is a problem. A major one. Or you could, y'know, keep throwing people with guns and expect to pass.

I was more of referring to the people that go there, rather than the security. Gum is safe. People go to Gum BECAUSE it is safe. GSF keeps gum safe. Do best to keep Gum safe. Where is issue here?!
The issue is whether or not Gum is only safe because it ignores and disallows subversive roleplay, or powergames to not have to deal with criminals.
I've never seen any mention of them ignoring/disallowing Crime RP. As for powergaming... I'm iffy on that at this point. Wont say anything about that quite yet.
It was changed, we don't have no discs anymore, or I don't. All guns can only fold once and don't do discs, and armor is required to be put on by a special machine. So......

To be fair, not everyone wants to deal with an antagonistic group who constantly raids settlements and brings unplanned and deadly Combat RP with them all the time. Particularly when said antagonistic group is never going to get wiped out. I'm not saying I'm okay with powergaming that outright prevents conflict. But do realize some people, myself included, would rather not have to deal the constant threat of unexpected character death 24/7 when there's an antagonistic group who does nothing but come down on colonies and try to murder everyone for some reason.
