    Science crystals: have the inept ability to do the following; be used as catalysts for WMD's, energy sources, make lasers, funky disco ball, more WMD's, explosives because science, making more science crystals, making more science, etc.

    Magic crystals: magic doesn't exist tough luck. Unless you call science magic then it does exist, refer to above. ^

    So I guess an important point we should bring up regarding this whole ship AI thing ...

    Are we adapting with it? Once it comes, are we going to assume AI's for ships and such are common and easy to acquire?
