There isn't much time. They're jamming the signal soon. To those at Alioth, do your best to continue treating the sick. To all others, any assistance would be appreciated. They've locked us in and are preparing to jam our signal. Their leadership has gone insane from paranoia of the spore they let in. If nothing is done, the lives of many will be lost to their insanity. Please send help to those at Alioth and help expose this madness. Doctor Muzi? Why would USCM want trap? Something about Spore? If anyone have any way can help let Floran know okay? -Petaldancer
*A PR post is made* The brave doctor's locked inside the hospital have been given means of direct communication with security personnel on site. Regular supply runs are made, and the power has NOT been disabled. After an incident involving a criminal deliberately trying to spread the disease to a Marshal, it was deemed necessary to contain the spread. We cannot risk an epidemic in such a large population centre. Once the risk of contamination has passed, the quarantine will be lifted. USCM marines are working around the clock to get them the supplies they need.
The true face of the United systems ladies and gentlemen. These are some quite obviously ridiculous decisions made by some very highly ranked individuals. Anonymous
-Acheim Schultz- I offered my assistance on the matter, but no. The USCM can handle everything, right? At least let me and my team examine the spores. You can even set up a temporary biohazard facility. I just want to study the fungus. I can help.
And once again, lives will be lost due to overemotional humans... Honestly, you would think they'd learn by now. - Skarti
"You BASTARDS! To think I was starting to feel that the USCM weren't as bad as I have always thought them to be. Now you pull THIS shit? What in the fucking hell are you doing?! A quarantine is one thing. Complete lockdown is something completely different! Communications blackout? Locking some of the only people that carry any hope at all for the outbreak on Alioth? You aren't marines. You aren't people seeking to help. This is pretty much monstrous. Your actions may very well kill many people that could otherwise likely be saved. Not to mention the fact that they already lost CHILDREN! As for a proper response to Doctor Suimaa... This is Aedan and I'm working as hard as I can on the nanites. It should only take about one more day to complete. Also, if this message doesn't end up making its way to the doctor, I will be taking this so far up the ladder of command that your heads will spin. That is an absolute promise, I can assure you." -Aedan
*another PR post is made* Communications blackouts are standard procedure for all quarantine operations. It is to ensure that those trapped within do not incite mass panic or instigate break ins that may spread the contamination. A checkpoint has been established in that, if medical personnel within the hospital clear screening, they may leave the quarantine and continue their work under quarantine protocols. Specialists who feel they may assist are invited to aid at this checkpoint, but are expected to follow quarantine protocol. Protocol is as follows: 1. Any entrant must wear a HAZMAT suit at all times. 2. If inside the QZ, the entrant removes any part of their suit or is exposed, they themselves will be quarantined. 3. No objects may be removed from the QZ. An onsite lab can be established. 4. If an object is removed from the QZ and is in anyway concealed, the individual will be placed under arrest, and quarantined if necessary. 5. Entrants must submit to regular medical examinations and security checks. This disease is a tragedy, and the decision has been made that it needs to be contained. As it stood, the disease in the hospital ran a risk of being highly contagious and deadly. If it was not contained, officials ran the risk of the disease spreading not only throughout the city, but through the entire galaxy. We ask you all understand that the risk for a wide-scale epidemic was too great to not enforce a lockdown, and that we are working with the doctors currently waiting to be cleared to leave quarantine to develop a permanent solution. As for the requests to work with the strain, we have to be very careful with who get's their hands on it. The nature of the disease makes it volatile in the hands of those who would abuse it. We are working on getting a list of trusted names from the doctors within.
is lie uscm try hide that force doctor to work for uscm because uscm is scum liar coward who need stab
Uh..... Doesn't it make more sense to quarantine the like, 50 people who are currently exposed and try to treat them, rather then let them potentially infect a city of millions of which could never be treated in time, therefore... ya know, killing everyone? Jeeze it's like you people never watched a movie before.
I would like to point out to the masses that this isn't an outbreak of some military-grade bioweapon. It's merely Agaran fungal spores. Perhaps if the humans actually listened to the doctors before choosing the must idiotic path of action, this could have been prevented. - Skarti
Those criticizing the admittedly rash and overbearing actions of the humans would do well to remember that the human homeworld was annihilated by a biological threat. Given the circumstances and noting the reports and rumors, it does not take a fool to understand why the USCM moved as it did. Those that remain seemingly safe from these spores are limited to glitch, like myself, and that is only due to our rather unique anatomy. Everyone else is at risk, and it seems the USCM has determined that the security of the uninfected civilians is their top priority; the last thing they want is a repeat of Earth occurring at Marathon. I do not have enough information to judge whether such actions were appropriate given the circumstances, as I have not encountered these spores in person and I am unaware as to the ongoing situation in Marathon proper. I do wish for the swift recovery of all those affected, and for a cure to be found soon. I would offer my services, given my relative safety, but I do not have a good understanding of non-glitch physiology. I believe there are multiple human sayings for the situation Marathon now finds itself in: "Caught between a rock and a hard place," "Damned if you do, damned if you don't," among others. -Gamma
"I'm one of the ones criticizing. I'm fucking human. I was /there/ on one of the escape shuttles from Earth as I saw everything being destroyed around me. I know what happened. I don't care how this may seem but it is NOT the same. Not even close. Yes, it's a pretty severe outbreak, but they are spores. This isn't some mega virus that seeks to wipe out an entire planet in a day. Honestly, basic face protection will keep you safe from this. This quarantine is far too serious for this. The USCM's paranoia is far too unchecked and it's going to get more people killed than saved." -Aedan
*PR because PR is amazing* Tomorrow morning, security personnel will be facilitating the screening and potential release of all uninfected individuals within the hospital. Due to limited resources, the process will take a significant amount of time, and will start with the staff locked within. If they are cleared as uninfected, they will be allowed to come and go as they please, so long as they follow quarantine protocol.
"In any case, it shouldn't be a problem for too much longer. As stated in reports sent to both Alioth and Doctor Suimaa, the nanites are complete and ready to be distrubuted among the patients. However, just like all procedures similar to this, there is always a margin for error. The tests and simulations showed very promising results, though." -Aedan
