Hello, hello~ IC Ziggy is a burglar and loves being challenged by detailed security systems and patrolling guards. Unfortunately, there's not many of those around. I've contacted the players responsible for building and running the Walker Trade Conglomerate/Navaco Station and the Vegas Casino, but neither have gotten back to me about it. The only other heist I've been able to pull off was breaking into the Gryphon's Peak castle and making off with a little gold and voxels. It was a good warmup, but I'd still like something a little more challenging. If anyone would be interested in building or running a heist-based RP, I'd really like it if you could comment on this thread or send me a private message. If you need help building the structure or wiring, just ask. I wouldn't ask you to do it all by yourself! As this is a PvP by definition, I'm willing to be captured, lost to space, injured, or in an extreme case, killed.
I am not sure about others, but ships seem near the top of security systems. Confined space, limited access points, wired setups from other areas. I am not say your burglar goes pirate, has pirates tend to overwhelm their opposition then when all the smoke is in the air, and people are died, they pillage. Honestly like an armored struck, ships would be the greatest of heist. However the main issue is: A. The loot, reward, or priceless item being transport and hear say spreading the word of it. B. Player driven transports. I have little issues with Tanji getting robbed, but I don't think the products on board his ship is seen as a target. Being that he is running a refueling and refining business. In any case, his ship is wired with security messages. Solarium has more uses for compounds, and Uranium only other use is Durasteel bars. However I can see Iggy wanting to rob transports. Eventually I do play on building a cache but that is after Tanji is more settled in Antares.
My main reason for wanting to plan a heist on a vault is that places with vaults tend to be backed by corporations with insurance. Zigs is a True Neutral that doesn't really want to hurt anyone or deal with threatening and robbing someone face-to-face, rather deal with the puzzles of casing floor plans, noting the positions of cameras, guard patrols, sensors, and door switches. Stowing away on a transport ship seems like a huge risk, especially since most heists require tools that are noisy and cumbersome. He also works alone, so robbing someone forcefully would be a poor choice.
Hmm... I might have something for you, do note this will have you in contact with the opening of a new drug called rift.
Your char will be set up with stealing some chemicals from a well populated colony, there will be a large group of armed men doing the same thing, your employer is offering you double the cash if you can do it before they do, and is hoping you don't get caught.
Everyone would be hoping not to get caught. How large is the cargo meant to be stolen? Is it feasible for one meek individual to lift the goods?
This is starting to turn into allot of info that you char might want to know, I'll have the contact msg your char.
In the same way, your character could easily fit the role of spy or ''Secret Agent'' even scout, as he likes to spot security things.
Unfortunately it kinda requires a group to have established wealth that they can justify. Not many people already have monies. The Walker Trade job went through. Kinda patchy, but Navaco's vault is now clean. As for the spy thing, he tends to accumulate and distribute info because reasons =w=
People should take this into account when building colonies so people can RP robbing them. Of course they'd need permission to do so and there'd need to be enough guards on, but it's easily done. More events with more roles for characters rather than 'run and gun' would be nice. I'll plan a few.
Someone tried to case my Katune apartment for later robbery and I was like "oh neat, another robber. gtfo of my house but also let's be friends"
I'm up for having someone attempt to rob the clinic in Katune. You could have someone attempt to steal medicine, money, drugs, etc
It's been done before. I recommend communication mostly. The last time a major heist happened, I distinctly remember an entire star fleet materialized from thin air (or thin dark matter?) to totally quarantine an entire planet until things were concluded in a strong-arm attempt to keep the robbers from succeeding. So... try to communicate with people. I have faith that the robbers could likely pull this off (not necessarily succeed) without any OOC issues. The question is how people react to them and if it all collapses into a pile of OOC and anger because 'the bad guys can never win!' That isn't to discourage you. I think you should give it a shot.
This sounds like powergaming what the shit As is the case with pretty much anything that isn't just character-to-character interaction (excluding fights). Always need to agree on what the desired outcome is for BOTH parties, so each side knows what could happen and won't bitch about having their precious jewels stolen or whatever. Details should be left out to avoid meta and increase surprise, though. Yeah, the amount of times I've seen this happen holy shit. Sometimes bad people get their way, people need to accept this and let it happen more frequently.
I always asked my targets before planning a heist. If they didn't want to risk having their vault emptied I just wouldn't even waste my time. messages on Starnet are the best way to communicate. Also, bad guys may not always win, but what about true neutrals? =w=
