Soo, ever since August/September of last year, I've wanted to make a webcomic, and during all this time I've been writing down scripts, stories, and such, and now I've finally started. I'll probably take a very long time to finish the first page, let alone the first chapter, since I'm learning more and more techniques and styles of drawing as I go along, but hopefully at some point I'll get there. This is the first page I'm working on right now.
commission of abigail and solour abigail dressed as solid snake, and solour dressed as colonel campbell will pay with a copy of bad rats and your choice of trading cards or tf2 items :^)
So I've almost finished up the first page, still needs lots of refining though, plus adding the text bubbles and whatnot. Anyways here's the current progress. I used a blank template for comic panels, because why not. If anyone's weirded out by the use of furries, well. It's mainly because furries are easier to draw. Not to mention that somehow using animal features allows for more distinction between characters. Ears, tail and other features of each species help me portray a more noticeable expression on the characters. Plus they're fun to draw. I've always liked these little critters ever since I watched Disney's The Three Musketeers. Ah, memories. On another note, I'll do my best at trying to draw Solly and Abigail. I'll need a couple of reference pics of your characters (doesn't matter if its just an ingame pic.) so I can have a starting point and something to help. Wouldn't hurt to have more practice. Btw pay is not needed, or wanted. I don't feel as though I should be paid for my work just yet. Edit: PROGRESS! I've began to add shading, glow and overlays on the crystal (meth) and character. Still have to finish one last background as well.
So, first page of teh upcoming webcomic is finished. And I probably won't be posting the rest until I've got a good 30 pages or more ready. So until I get to work on the next page I'll be working on the requests I've received and some other sketches/concepts I'll draw. Plus I probably need some work on my typography and scripting.
So, since I really can't draw hoomuns for shite, I've started reading up and watching a ton of anatomy videos to start training teh eye. I've also done a few practice sketches with the muscles of the human body so I can start remembering what's what and how are they supposed to look. I should really start working on proportions as well. Just look at the that guy and his huge arm, lel. Also, I'd rather have a solid foundation on human anatomy and proportion before taking in any more requests that require me to draw full-body drawings or sketches, or human faces. Sorry!
Learn basics. Such as simple anatomy and proportions. Length of limbs and et cetera. Since all I have seen so far was bodies with strange proportions, such as long torsos but short arms and legs or arms of different lengths and such. Look at yourself sometimes (unless you have limbs of different shapes and lengths then whoops) And you just drew human bodies, not humans. You haven't really done a drawing with an unique, humanoid-like body.
Po-ta-to Po-ta-toe. But yeah I am looking up more things on proportions and anatomy. My biggest problem is the shape of the things I draw and their proportions. I'm trying to use less and less reference pictures because at some point I won't be able to use those. I wish I could enroll in an art course, or a digital art course (online or on-site), but unfortunately I don't have the monies to do so. So I make do with whatever I can find.
Use references, because you don't know how to do anatomy right. I never had any courses or whatever, too. Wouldn't say that I'm a great artist myself, but I manage. So that is not an excuse.
More practice. Edit: I liked this sketch, so I added some quick colors. IMO looks pretty cool. Edit #2: It's going well!
Arms are of different lengths again, anime chin mouth, placement of that one eye is odd, the pose itself is strange, along with the motion he is doing (Also puush got an option to capture selected part of screen - in this case your drawing). If you want to practice drawing heads, then draw just heads.
Tried my hand at another drawing. Disregarding everything about anatomy and proportions. Clearly. So whatever. I liked it. Also I don't know how to draw fat people.
