Well my laptop finally bit the dust after running faithfully for four years. What I thought could be a minor fix (replace thr ittybitty battery on da motherboard) revealed something sad. It seems despite the cooling pads, regular dusting of the insides, etc. The heat finally got to my baby. (I refuse to blame the lightning storm because it makes me feel silly.) So! I am no longer capable of getting IG. I am now a creature of the forums. Until my newborn arrives. Tired of laptop heat issues Ive settled on the below computer with a little bit of customization. Feel free to give me your thoughts. I llan to upgrade her as time goes by.

desktop this time :/ tiiiired of overheating. And being used to laptops my graphics standards havent been spoiled yet... Skyrim on High with no choppiness made my day. But the laptop would overheat after 4 hours :/ This desktop should be a step up, better processor, hell of a better video card, more RAM. And im contemplating playing with ramdisk software but i hear its a pain in the ass to get steam games to play nucely with jnstalling on ramdisk. <_< ik just happy to upgrade.
if it doesnt run starbound then i made a grave error in judgement. one that cost 864 dollars -_- thats a terrible error.
Looks like some solid specs! Sorry about your old companion though You know, I don't think I've seen a Gaming Setup picture thread around here...
Does starbound info like chars and stuff save over the steam cloud cause if not you need to make a new Tarl
oh no.... ill lose so many nostalgic items friggin carrot gun from Petal :/ the old USCM rifle and USN uniform he kept from when he resigned. Sigh. I never sorted through the boxes of random items on his ship. Das makes me sadface.
Assuming that your harddrive didn't melt or otherwise fry, you can salvage your data. You can probably bring it to geeksquad or some other IT service place and see if they can get it working and transfer your old files.
Even better, you can buy a hard drive sleeve and make it an external hard drive. I have like four from my frankenstein'd laptops.
He can't. Laptop getting fried = unable to retrieve files. He'd need to get/borrow another laptop to put the hard-drive into and extract the files manually to the USB from there. I've had to do it before, it's a long arduous process, having to sift through 1.2m files/prons
