The body doesn't match the way that armour already looks. There are a few possibilities, but I think it's safe to rule out the idea of these guys getting into the game as a playable race without being modified to conform to the current body-type.
Reason to add eighth race: 1. OCD person buys starbound once novakids are implemented. 2. Notices that the race buttons don't have a symmetrical pattern. 3. stops playing starbound and tells friends not to buy it. 4. Bad for business. 5. Bad business = developers run out of money and get bought out by EA 6. All the races except human come as DLC. (DRM too). 7. Nobody plays 8. Starbound gets shelved. 9. The developers, while huddling around a fire for warmth somewhere in southwest London, realize that if only they had added another race they would have avoided being homeless and would have lots of moneys. 10. Developers pass away in their sleep having lived a bleak and unfulfilled life.
