Believing Ancient beings existed before Starbound's Timeline?

I believe that there is a race from long ago, the one that fiddled with the Avians and the Glitch.

There is definitely lore stating that there were beings from ancient times. One that really stands out is the history of the Glitch. They were created by a long forgotten race as ways of testing out evolution and the like. Also, I imagine Novakids would definitely be a very old race. Among the playable ones, it would likely be the oldest alongside the Glitch. However, since the Novakids don't record their history, there would be no information at all to indicate even remotely close to how old they are.

 

One could theorize that since they are basically star people, they are as old as stars.

 

True. It's a good theory. Though, for the sake of in-character stuff, it would be impossible for anyone to tell how old they really are. But it's very possible they are very old as a species.

 

Question: Why do sentient robots mimic human dark age technology? Their armour is very human like. Probably just laziness on the dev part, but it doesn't particularly look anything but human.

 

...So then how would the Glitch be older than humans? Wouldn't they have developed around the dark ages of humanity?

 

Not exactly. The main thing is that the Glitch were a race created by those ancient beings to study how a species evolves. The Glitch merely got stuck at the level that is equivalent to Earth's dark ages. It doesn't necessarily have to be based off of Earth and humanity, either. Given how evolution and technology tends to progress, it's very possible that other planets and civilizations would go through similar stages to that of our own. This is both scientific theory as well as something that is seen fairly often in various sci-fi. A very good example would actually be the Star Ocean series of games. It often revolves around a character getting stranded, or similar, on an underdeveloped world, usually within the general timeframe of Earth's medieval era. Be-it more similar to the Eastern or Western culture would vary, mind you.

As for the idea about novakids theoretically being those ancient beings that created the Glitch, I highly doubt it. Putting aside their lack of recording their history, they also don't have enough attention to really do anything remotely close to that. Their technological advances are entirely based around taking technology that already exists and making small modifications to it. Each generation then makes another small modification, and that's how their technology progressed. Because of this, it's extremely unlikely that they had anything to do with the creation of the Glitch.
