Community Custom Vanity Mod Pack!

Ello everyone!
It's been a topic of discussion for awhile now, so I decided to leap right in and lay the foundation of our glorious community vanity pack!

The ideas simple really. The character creator can only do so much! We want our characters to look right, and that's EXACTLY what we're going to do!

Let me lay out what the pack currently has to offer. It's not much right now, but it'll grow with time!

Brush Icons

If we don't draw custom icons for every piece we make, then we save time. Simple. I decided to go with paint brushes, and I think it looks pretty enough~!

The color on the brush helps organize each item into a category.



How to Use

Usage is simple. After you download the zip file, extract the folder within and throw it into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\mods

Your path may be a bit different, so you'll have to look for that


The tutorial below is currently false, but will be used once mod synchronization is established.
For now, you can find all vanity items at the spinning wheel.

Now, since our server doesn't have a custom launcher (yet), Players that don't have the pack installed will see past your vanity slot, to your armor. (Hence my goggles being my helmet). So vanilla compatible, sure! ... but we need to try and keep everyone as up to date as possible!

How to Contribute

I may not be the BEST pixel artist, but it works well enough. Of course, I don't intend to do this all on my own, so let's get to how you can lend a hand!

Be advised, the vanity pack won't just accept every single contribution without question. And I /may/ do touch ups on some contributions if I find it necessary

What a contribution needs
1. An item folder
2. A recipe file

... Done. It's actually pretty easy!

Click here! to download a zip containing both an example item folder and an example recipe file.

The "head.png" image in the "stubble" folder is where you'll draw your vanity piece. Use the blank sprite as a guide, but remember to remove it once you're done. ALSO remember to retain the images transparency. It's easy to do pixel art in MS paint, but once you save it will no longer be transparent. Open it up in photoshop or something similar after you're done and make sure to clean it up!

You'll need to edit the text in both "stubblehead.recipe" and in "stubble.head". I recommend using Notepad ++ to do so. It's easy to see what you'll need to change and what you won't, just look for anything that mentions "stubble"!

All the colored brush icons are included, just pick the one that matches your items category and rename it "icon"

(I may create a more thorough guide in the future, if necessary)

Once you're done that, post an example image here with a download link so I can throw ere' in!

Oh yeah, tell me if the Ashe style works for you, i think It looked pretty spot on myself but you weren't on for me to ask for your input!

Put some clothes on you goof. Anyway, do you think the scar makes it look too cluttered or does it work?

 

We could totally do chest and leg wear, however that requires A LOT more work since you need to draw frames. I personally won't be bothering to make any clothing, but it can be done
