One Piece is my absolute favorite. 700+ episodes. You'll end up getting so invested in characters because of how well the plot develops and characters grow. I cried every arc. Hajime no Ippo is great too. There are 3 different seasons of it. It's a boxing anime. I love Log Horizon. I like that it's more accurate as to how MMORPG's work compared to Sword Art Online. Tokyo Ghoul was awesome. So was Death Parade You should watch Is it Wrong to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon? and Plastic Memories. I'm emotionally invested in Plastic Memories and Dungeon is just well rounded in goodness.
I agree with most of Smokestack's recommendations. One Piece is a great one because if you like it, then it's hard to run out of episodes. I've been working on that anime (400+ episodes so far) by watching a couple of episodes and then watching a smaller series of about 20 episodes or so. Personally I think that Sword Art Online is a pretty good anime to watch to get into animes, I even have friends where it's the only anime that they enjoy. How to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon is also a really good one as long as you don't mind waiting for the episodes to come out since it's still an ongoing series.
i dunno. i reccomend code geass, which is about like mechs powered by a bullshittingly combustive fuel, and attack on titan, which almost everyone knows about
Ive only seen two animes my entire life. Highschool of the Dead and SAO. SAO was good. HOTD, uhm, NO.
*Raises glasses* I'll have you know that I watched Highschool of the Dead for the plot. Spoiler: Plot But really though. I'm a die hard zombie fan. Highschool of the Dead was a good show.
I think everyone can agree that the 2nd and 3rd season of SAO is just a downward spiral into the ground. I mean, I found it good, but with how great season 1 was, they just didn't leave much room.
The ending of season one felt rushed to me, to be honest. It started off great but I feel like it could have ended much better than it did, especially if they hadn't included as many time skips as they did.
If you go back and read the light novels (man I sound like a nerd) you can see why there are so many in the anime. It's even worse in the books, for example, the murder mystery episodes in the 1st season are after the Gun Gale arc in the books, they happen as a flashback
It did great with what it had. But I liken the time skips more to how a game would work. It wouldn't be too fun watching a person grind at a dungeon all day. But the parts with character development being rushed as a result of the time skip I agree with. Which is why Log Horizon is great. Because it's a video game anime that's more like a video game. It shows the relationship between plaayer characters and NPCs and how they have to deal with the lore, player guilds, and PVP.
I do agree that Log Horizon is a better anime, but I think that SAO is a better one to get into anime with. That's just my opinion of course as they are both fantastic
Fear not. Watching an anime or ten is nothing to be ashamed of. You see, anime is less a genre and more a format for the medium of 'televised entertainment.' j
